Director of Maintenance

The Director of Maintenance reports directly to the President. The Director of Maintenance shall hold a mechanic’s certificate with both Airframe and Power plant ratings and have a minimum of three years’ experience within the last six years on aircraft of the same category and class as operated by the Company at the time of their appointment as Director of Maintenance pursuant to §119.71(e). The Director of Maintenance is directly responsible to the President and supervises all company maintenance activities. They shall assure all personnel utilized to perform maintenance activities on Company aircraft are appropriately tested for drug and alcohol abuse in accordance with 14 CFR §120 Subpart D. Specific duties, responsibilities and authority are as follows:

 

  • Adds or deletes aircraft from the Air Carrier Certificate and maintains the record required by §135.63(a)(3).
  • Coordinates required inspections on all Company aircraft and assures airworthiness standards prescribed by applicable regulations, airworthiness directives, manufacturer’s recommended procedures, and good operating practices are established and maintained.
  • Supervises aircraft maintenance activities including overhaul and modification.
  • Maintenance and repair of Company aircraft. Schedules Company aircraft maintenance on a first priority basis considering such factors as flight schedules and parts availability.
  • Assures that all required aircraft maintenance records are maintained in a current status.
  • Coordinates closely with maintenance contracting agencies when outside maintenance activities are being performed on Company aircraft.
  • Is responsible for ordering parts, lubricants, etc. in sufficient quantity to ensure minimum aircraft down time.
  • Is accountable for all expendable maintenance items.
  • Maintains close liaison with the Director of Operations to provide current status of aircraft, forecasts down times, mechanical irregularity, deferral or correction and scheduling of maintenance.
  • Serves as the maintenance representative on the Safety Committee and a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Maintains weight and balance records of all Company aircraft.
  • Supervises the re-weighing of each multi-engine aircraft every 36 calendar months.
  • Determines maintenance personnel requirements based on the present and projected workloads and assures that mechanics are qualified and competent. Sky One Holdings, LLC General Maintenance Manual Section 1-01 Rev. #10 – 06/22/2021 Page 6
  • Assigns maintenance personnel duties.
  • Submits mechanical reliability reports and mechanical interruption reports to the FAA. Apply for submit special flight permits with the FAA.
  • He may delegate functions to other personnel but retains responsibility. He will ensure that maintenance personnel have a thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance manuals, applicable FAR’s and applicable portions of the Company Operations Manual. He maintains close liaison with the local FAA maintenance inspectors.
  • He will sub-contract maintenance which he and his personnel are not qualified or equipped to perform.
  • He will ensure that all Company aircraft maintenance records are maintained in a permanent file.
  • He will ensure that maintenance manuals for Company aircraft are kept current, and all personnel under his supervision are familiar with their use and contents.
  • He will assist with the writing and updating of maintenance procedures specified in the Company Manuals and ensures that appropriate sections of the Company Operations Manual are readily available to all maintenance personnel.
  • He will ensure that all maintenance accomplished to Company aircraft complies with the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • He will ensure that all subcontracted maintenance performed by another person is accomplished in conformity with the Company General Maintenance Manual and in accordance with applicable FAR’s.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

Remuneration:

  • Salary to commensurate with experience
